Materica Collection Fall/Winter 2016-17

In his F/W 2016/17 collection Vittorio Branchizio confirms his calling in the reinterpretation of knitwear. He takes inspiration from images of cut sections of the Arno river stones, analyzing the complex textures and their colours such as night blue, rose, arctic.

From here, he begins his deep material investigation studying fibers and yarns in order to further manipulate finished garment. The outcome is an intimate mood, pictorial, refined, pliable and gentle.

The spatial volumes of the collection recall Middle East lengths and Japanese proportions worn in layers. The tops reflect the very icons of men’s outerwear: the studded jacket, the bomber and the double-breasted jacket, all revisited in a global, frontierless flavour.

In his dedicated search for cross pollination between fashion and the visual arts, Vittorio Branchizio carries on his collaboration with the artist Sergio Perrero for the pictorial operations on garments and Uros Mihic for his research on origami.

VITTORIO BRANCHIZIO is a Made in Italy men’s knitwear brand, using the finest natural fibers and latest technical knitting solutions. Refined yarns, advanced technology and design are the defining components, where traditional craftsmanship blends with the highest quality materials. The combining of threads with different weights creates deeper inlays with richer tones and reliefs; the play between knitted and textile-based sections gives life to pieces with a most complex design and a minimal apparel at its very best.

Vittorio Branchizio was born in Brescia in 1984 to a culturally diverse family, absorbing Javanese influences from his mother and Greek-Italian from his father. In 2000 he enrolled at the Istituto di Moda Industriale di Brescia (the Brescia Institute for the Fashion Industry). During his undergraduate study he began to work as a pattern designer in the workshops of a custom shirt manufacturer where he learnt to master the basics of short-order tailoring techniques.

At the age of 21 he joined D-Exterior, a ladies knitwear and RTW brand, where he still works as co-designer. Here Vittorio continues to deepen both his technical know-how and creative flair with knitting processes, using an ever-increasing range of the finest wools and precious fibers, and overseeing the various stages of production: research, design and manufacturing.

In 2014 he founded the Vittorio Branchizio label, a man’s knitwear line.
Vittorio Branchizio is the winner of the June 2015 edition of WHO IS ON NEXT? UOMO, the competition supported by Pitti Immagine, Altaroma and L'Uomo Vogue that seeks out new Italian or Italy-based talents in men's fashion.
