VITTORIO BRANCHIZIO SS 2016 COLLECTION
The new collection S/S 2016 confirms Vittorio Branchizio's interest in geometries and uphold my fascination from visual arts, taking inspiration above all from painting and photography.
In the jacquard knits he combined cotton with silk yarns in different weights and colours to reproduce images from his own photography works and from drawings of the french artist Pascal Pillard. He tried to apply artistic concepts to his design taking advantage of avant-garde knitting techniques to render the chosen images and concepts on the garments.
On some pieces he used the combination of textile and knitting, taking inspiration from geometrical shapes using openings, cuts, different materials and contrasting colours to recreate 3D volumes and squared-cut shapes.
He spent long hours on the technical side of the knitting process, trying to develop a collection with deep poetic implications and distinct apparel details.
